The information we collect

Information you give us

When you request a quote or get in touch, we collect the details you provide, which may include:

  • your name, email address, phone number and postcode
  • whether your enquiry is about appliance cover for your home or VoIP for your business
  • the appliances you’d like covered, or the business services you’re interested in (and, for businesses, your company name and number of users)
  • anything else you choose to tell us in your message

If you become a customer, we will also hold the information needed to provide and bill for your services, such as billing and account details.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view. This is used to keep the website secure and working properly.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • call you back about your enquiry and prepare a quote
  • contact you about the services you’ve asked about
  • set up, manage and support the cover or services you buy from us, including arranging repairs
  • keep our website secure and improve how it works
  • meet our legal, accounting and regulatory obligations

We will not send you marketing emails unless you have agreed to receive them, and you can opt out at any time.

Our lawful basis

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) we must have a lawful basis for using your personal information. We rely on:

  • Consent: when you tick the box on our quote form, you agree to us calling you back about your enquiry. You can withdraw this at any time.
  • Contract: where we need your information to provide a quote you’ve asked for or to deliver services to you.
  • Legitimate interests: to run, secure and improve our business and website, where this does not override your rights.
  • Legal obligation: where we must keep records, for example for tax purposes.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We only share it with trusted service providers who help us run our business, and only as much as they need:

  • Formspree: processes quote form submissions and forwards them to us by email
  • Vercel: hosts our website
  • Google Fonts: provides the fonts used on our website, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers
  • the engineers and repair partners who carry out repairs under your cover
  • our email, telecoms, IT and accounting providers

We may also share information where required by law, or with professional advisers such as accountants and solicitors.

International transfers

Some of our service providers may store or process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, so your information is protected to UK standards.

How long we keep it

We only keep personal information for as long as we need it:

  • Enquiries and quotes that don’t lead to an order: up to 24 months from our last contact
  • Customer records: for as long as you are a customer, and then for up to 6 years to meet our legal and accounting obligations

After this, we securely delete or anonymise it.

Keeping it secure

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information from loss, misuse or unauthorised access. Our website is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection, and access to personal information is limited to people who need it to do their job.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
  • ask us to delete your information
  • ask us to restrict or stop using your information
  • object to us using your information, including for marketing
  • ask us to transfer your information to another organisation
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it

To make a request, email info@elevate-trade.com. We’ll respond within one month, and there is usually no charge.

Cookies

Our website does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. If we add any in the future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where required.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we use your information, please contact us first and we’ll do our best to put it right.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator: ico.org.uk, telephone 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
